Application Notes

p-Dimethylaminobenzaldehyde is used as a reagent for the determination of amino acids and peptides, amines, indoles, hydrazines and hydrogen peroxides as it forms colored condensation products (Schiff bases) with pyrroles and primary amines; spray reagent for tryptophan; For the determination of tryptophan in proteins; Used in microbiology as test reagent for the identification of indole-producing microorganisms.
