The first adenine-based cytokinin discovered. Used in plant tissue culture to induce cell division, callus formation and shoot regeneration.
Application Notes
Kinetin is used as plant growth accelerator. It is used in plant culture media such as Murashige & Skoog media in conjunction with auxins such as indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA), 1-napthaleneacetic acid (NAA) or others to induce the fomation of callus and to regenerate plant tissues from callus. It has been also studied as a treatment for many human disease states caused by pre-mRNA splicing errors, including familial dysautonomia and neurofibromatosis.
