Application Notes

Cetyl alcohol is used in the cosmetic industry as an opacifier in shampoos, or as an emollient, emulsifier or thickening agent in the manufacture of skin creams and lotions. It is also employed as a lubricant for nuts and bolts.1-Hexadecanol has been used in preparation of:• (±)-2-methoxyheptadecanoic acid (fatty acid)• high-chain fatty acid esters of 1-hexadecanol, novel organic phase change material for thermal energy storage• hexadecane (alkane) in the presence of membrane fraction of Vibrio furnissii M1
